- You should know that in Mexico the tips are usually fairly widespread but not mandatory; it is customary to leave in restaurants 15 percent of the account. In the case of goalkeepers, buttons, cleaning staff, taxi drivers and those who carry your luggage at the airports are given a dollar or euro or the equivalent in pesos of these currencies. It can be said that it is common or customary to tip those workers in Mexico. It is also expected and highly appreciated.
- It is important that tourists know that in Mexico the provision of all services and the acquisition of any good including hotels and restaurants are subjected to the Value Added Tax (VAT). Its rate is 15 percent with some exceptions in some destinations such as Cancun, Cozumel, Los Cabos and border cities like Tijuana where the VAT is 10 percent.
- When you go to the post office, you should be aware of the days and hours it will be open. It is normally open to the public, Monday through Friday, from 9 AM- 7PM, and on Saturdays, from 9 AM to 1 PM. Within different states of Mexico, there are some towns where the hours of operation are usually shorter.

In the following holidays many establishments are open until midday:
January 6: Three Kings Day.
May 10: Mother's Day.
November 2: Day of the Dead.
December 12: Day of the Virgin of Guadalupe.
- Another point of great significance to tourists in Mexico is that the electric current is 110 volts and there are Two Flat-pin Plugs. If you bring 220 volt appliances, do not hesitate to ask a transformer in the reception of your hotel.
- You should know that in museums, archaeological sites and colonial buildings you are not allowed to use flash or tripods unless you have special permission to do so.
